À PROPOS

Lusaka Street is an exploration of Zambia's photographic past through the eyes of Zambian photographer Alick Phiri. One of the few black photographers still alive who had access to this medium between the 1960s and 1990s in Lusaka, at a time when the use of cameras was restricted in the country, Phiri trained at Photo Art Studios in Lusaka before opening his own studio in Kanyama, making photography an integral part of his life. His unedited photographic archives offer a rare glimpse into the daily lives of the city's inhabitants.
